Web Story Promoting MIT Cold Fusion Colloquium Appears to Be Fake

A few days ago, a Web site called The Explorer published a story written by Tina Quizon called “Steven Chu looks at Lattice-Assisted Nuclear Reactions Cold Fusion.”

No sources or direct quotes were given for Chu’s alleged interest in “cold fusion.”

Yesterday New Energy Times asked Department of Energy spokesman Jeff Sherwood about the Explorer Web page.

“Secretary Chu did not speak at that conference, did not attend and was, in fact, out of the country at the time,” Sherwood said.

It is pretty clear the report was misleading at best. However, did Sherwood say Chu wasn’t looking at LANR/Cold Fusion? I would think the secretary of Energy is looking at it even if that means looking from afar and amounts to 5 minutes of looking a year Of course her article implied the looking was more involved. .

Good question. I asked Sherwood that question, but we would only give me the comments I quoted on the record. Sherwood, by the way, has been with the DoE Office of Public Affairs for many decades, including the time period of the heated moments in 1989.

Actually, the article did not say explicitly “dr Chu has attended” the meeting and it was an apparent handicap to take it seriously.

Good work Steve. Now what about the Brian Ahern story. Also can you get more info on Bushnell and what he’s doing with NASA on LENR. Finally I know that other government labs are working on various aspects of the public knowledge Rossi has released. Can you talk to anybody there?

    Thanks

Sorry, I’m not going to respond to questions any stories that may or may not be in progress. I appreciate your interest.
